At 5 AM, most of us are lucky if we have the energy to get out of bed and actually get ready for work. Mornings can be rough, and it’s not like we all can afford the luxury of sleeping in.
So, here are 5 tips to make your mornings a little more bearable, and who knows, you might even start looking forward to them.

1. You don’t get enough sleep.

It probably sounds annoyingly obvious, but not getting the recommended seven to nine hours of sleep is probably why you are always grumpy in the morning.

Solution: Well, get enough sleep, obviously. Keep your laptop, phone and other distractions out of the bed and go to sleep on time.

2. Your wake-up time is inconsistent.

Not having a set wakeup time makes it significantly harder to get out of bed in the morning. Constantly alternating between waking up by 4 and waking up by 5 every day is just another reason you wake up in a bad mood.

Solution: Set the alarm clock for the same time every morning (including weekends), and DO NOT hit that snooze button.

3. The sound of your alarm is actually terrible.

Waking up to the sound of blares, beeps or rings is far from soothing and can definitely add to your sour mood in the morning .

Solution: Pick a soothing alarm sound, and DO NOT make it too loud.

4. You don’t have a proper breakfast.

I get the need to rush out of the house so you’re stuck in terrible traffic, but missing breakfast (the most important meal of the day) is never a good idea, and no, coffee doesn’t count. You’re missing out on that much needed morning jolt of energy.

Solution: Set out time for breakfast; eggs, oats, something that will jump-start that brain of yours.

5. You don’t exercise.

Before you say you don’t have time in the mornings to exercise, just know that I’m not telling you to do a full blown gym-level workout. Just ask any health nut how great they feel after a workout, and trust me you’d want to feel like that every morning.

Solution: 15 – 30 mins of cardio (maybe a jog or skipping rope) will clear your tired eyes, and give you that energy boost you need.

Now go forth and enjoy your mornings.
