Travelling with a Nigerian passport is quite a task. With the Nigerian passport ranking 101 out of 199 countries, there are not many visa-free countries for Nigerian nationals. However, there are still countries that admit Nigerians without a visa, which is great. Let’s get you acquainted with 10 Nigeria visa-free countries.
1. Barbados
The island country in the Caribbean allows Nigerians to visit and stay without a visa for up to six months. However, there are no direct flights from Nigeria to Barbados, so you may need a transit visa depending on the country you pass through and how long you’re in transit.
Visiting Barbados as a Nigerian doesn’t require a visa but the Barbados Immigration Department will need to see a valid passport and a return ticket before you’re allowed entry into the county.
2. Benin Republic
You probably know that Benin Republic is an ECOWAS member, one of Nigeria’s neighbours. You should also know that you don’t need a pre-arranged visa before you can visit the country — their immigration laws allow Nigerian nationals to stay in the country without a visa for 90 days.
3. Burkina Faso
Burkina Faso, another country in West Africa and famous for its vibrant African art and culture market, does not require Nigerians to have a visa to visit. All you need is your passport and proof that you have enough money to sustain yourself for the duration of your stay in the country.
4. Cambodia
This southeastern Asian country allows Nigerians to stay in the country for 30 days without a visa. Additionally, you can extend your stay by another month, by sending an application to the immigration department.
However, the authorities will need to see proof of a return ticket, funds, and accommodation arrangement before you’re allowed entry into the country.
5. Haiti
Nigerians are allowed to stay in this Caribbean country without a visa for three months. However, you will need to pay a tourist fee of $10 at the point of arrival at the airport.
If you desire to stay longer than three months in Haiti, you will need to apply and pay for an extension at the immigration department.
6. Dominica
Another Caribbean country Nigerians don’t need a visa to visit. With the right documents — a passport, proof of funds, a detailed itinerary of your time in the country and accommodation arrangements, you can stay in the country without a visa for up to six months.
7. Fiji
Fiji is a South Pacific nation and archipelago, north of Auckland, New Zealand. There are about 300 islands and 540 islets scattered across the country, so there is sure a lot of attractions. Good thing Nigerians don’t require a visa to visit the nation, and they can stay for up to 120 days.
8. Cape Verde
Nigerians can visit the island nation of Cape Verde, off the west coast of Africa and stay for 30 days without a visa. Of course, there are still requirements to fulfil, and one of them is registering online at least five days before you arrive in the country.
9. Ghana
Nigerian visiting Ghana can do so and stay for up to 90 days without a visa. We have Ghana’s visa-exempt policy for ECOWAS citizens to thank for this. Additionally, you can extend your stay by sending an application to the immigration authorities in the country.
10. Micronesia
Micronesia is an island country in Oceania. Although they have no embassy in Nigeria, Nigerian citizens can travel to the country without a visa for 30 days. Also, it is important to note that there will be three stopovers before you get to this country, and you will be required to provide proof of vaccination for cholera, smallpox and Yellow fever.
If you like the country so much that you want to extend your stay, you can do that for a period not longer than 60 days.
