The first episode of the new HBO series Dune: Prophecy, a spinoff of the Dune movies, has been released. The show is set 10,000 years before Paul Atreides was born and the events in the movie start.
In these early stages of the House Corrino rule of the universe, their infamous Sardaukar milliary force has not been built, and the Harkonnen are not even rated by the emperor.
While fans of the Dune movies have had much to say about the series (predominantly positive), we can’t help but wonder what the TV show would have been like if it had been a Nollywood production.
Here is what we came up with:
Patience Ozokwor as Valya Harkonnen
Valya Harkonnen, who plays the leader of the Sisterhood that later became known as the Bene Gesserit, will be played by Patience Ozokwor, who will be a mother-in-law. She will be the mother of the emperor who hates his wife. Unlike the members of the Sisterhood who are suspected of witchcraft, Ozokwor’s Valya will be the one calling the emperor’s wife a witch. But the wife will be very innocent and love to read the Bible.
Genoveva Umeh as Princess Ynez Corrino
Princess Ynez Corrino will be played by Genoveva Umeh. She would be a virgin and the most beautiful maiden in the land. Unlike the Ynez in Dune: Prophecy, who agrees to marry a foreign prince to bolster the House Corrino fighting force, Genoveva’s Ynez will be in love with Stan Nze, who will be a servant in the palace. Alexx Ekubo will be the foreign prince.
Richard Mofe-Damijo as Emperor Javicco Corrino
The emperor Javicco Corrino will be played by Richard Mofe-Damijo. He will hate his wife and will never listen to her because she’s a woman. He will wear a lot of beads and just sit down like a vegetable on the throne with other men fanning him.
The Sisterhood will be called Sisters of the Night
The Sisterhood will be known called Sisters of the Night and will only gather at night. Anytime they want to meet, train, or just banter will be at night. Also, they must have sacrificed their fathers before they are allowed to join the Sisterhood. They will be able to turn into birds, and nobody will know about their hiding place.
Ynez loves the servant
There is a scene in the first episode where the princess goes to the club and has a very fun time with someone. If it were a Nollywood TV show, because she was in love with the servant in the palace, she would never have agreed to be with this other person she doesn’t like. In fact, it would have been a rape scene sharp sharp.
Aunty Ramota will play Valya’s assistant
Aunty Ramota will be the servant of the Sisterhood. In fact, she will be Valya Harkonnen’s personal assistant. She will be there to whip any of the girls that mess up into shape and make sure Valya behaves however she likes.
Kunle Afolayan will direct and write the script
Any Nollywood film with “After many years” seems to be Kunle Afolayan’s MO these days. He gave us The Figurine, and now we have Recall. So, a TV show that starts with “10,000 years before the birth of Paul Atreides” seems like a perfect fit for him.
