For today’s Ranked, I thought back to Saturday morning staples in a Nigerian household and I realised a ranking was long overdue.

3. Tapioca.

From what I found out, Tapioca is absolutely nutritious. But see ehn, I cannot stand it. Add coconut, milk and sugar, it still feels somehow to me. Please tell me I’m not alone. I endured it every Saturday morning as a child. As an adult? Not again.

2. Custard.

know we all agree that custard deserves this second position. Why? When you get to number 1, you’ll see.

1. Pap

You know why pap is number 1? The diversity. There’s the brown pap, the yellow one, the white one. And it’s cheap too. Also goes with beans, akara, moimoi, etc. Not saying custard doesn’t pair, but let’s give pap the crown it deserves.

BONUS: Garri

n a Nigerian home, there is no specific time for garri. Every time is a right time. That’s respect.
