Sometime last year, I got a call from a supposed customer care rep of my bank. He sounded really posh and confident that I totally drank the zobo.
He called out my full name and my date of birth and even confirmed the only bank I was using at the time. It was all very believable. So when he asked for the numbers on my card, I didn’t think twice before giving it to him.
I got to know I had been scammed when I received a debit alert of N15k. Thankfully, that was the only money in my account at the time.

My mom was scammed of N500k in December 2021 and we still haven’t recovered from the loss.
She got a message that her card was about to expire and she needed to renew it before a particular date. There was a number to call in the text message. My mom owns a mini-mart so she doesn’t joke about anything concerning her account or money.
She immediately called the man and they told her to provide her card details so they would renew it for her and she can keep the same card number that was how they cleared the N500k from her account. Omo our Christmas was so sad.

There’s this POS guy on my street, I patronize him a lot so I’ve gotten to trust him. I trusted him to the extent that I don’t collect receipts after transactions. He noticed this and started adding to the extra that I was withdrawing.
He started with #500 and slowly graduated till he started adding like N5k extra. I didn’t notice because I didn’t receive alerts. The day I finally got to notice, he had added an extra N30k to the money I was going to withdraw. Unknowing to him, that was the last money in my account.
Later that evening, I went back to the POS to withdraw and my card kept declining l. He assured me it was a network issue. So, the next morning, I went straight to my bank. You can imagine my shock when I printed out my bank statement.
