Good morning, {$name}. 🌞
The guy in this week’s NairaLife was only ten years old when he understood an uncomfortable truth: He was primarily alone and had to start caring for himself. An absent father, a mother who buckled under the weight of financial pressure, and two older sisters who had to leave home to hustle meant he lost all the safety nets he could use at that age.
When he was 16, he left home, too, figuring out one hustle after the other. He figured he might as well become a Yahoo boy at some point. Did he follow through? No, but it wasn’t for a lack of interest.
He’s 23 years old now, and he’s beginning to get some degree of stability. Maybe for the first time in his life.
Let’s get into it.

#NairaLife: He Almost Became a Yahoo Boy. Now He’s a POS Agent
In 2016, this 23-year-old was forced to leave home to fend for himself, thanks to absent parents. At his lowest, he almost turned to a life of crime. But that’s in the past, and for the first time in forever, he has a sense of stability. What made the difference? Starting a POS business.
“He Doesn’t Buy Me Stuff” — Nigerian Women on Earning More Than Their Partners
We spoke to women in relationships with partners who earn less. From the partner who rejects financial help to the one who never buys gifts, their responses are more than a little surprising.
An excerpt: “I earn almost 200% more than my husband, and I think he resents me for it. Anytime I complain about the cost of things, he’d “jokingly” say stuff like, “If big madam like you is complaining, what about we poor people?” It sounds like a joke, but he’s always making offhand comments like that. I can’t tease him about buying me stuff because he’d say I’m richer than him.”
Money Meanings
Game: #HowMuchLast
#HowMuchLast is a game where we show you an item and you tell us (and the world) the highest amount you’d pay for it.
Some weeks will be Okin biscuit, some others will be SUVs.
We’re in the last week of November, which means it’s pretty much Mariah Carey’s annual cashout run, AKA Christmas😅. As you’re drawing up your Detty December presents, I’m curious how much you’ve earmaked for Christmas presents. What’s the most you’d spend on these gifts ?
What’s the most you’d pay? Tweet at us here.
Where The Money At?!
We can’t say we’re about the money and not actually help you find the money.
So we’ve compiled a list of job opportunities for you. Make sure you share this with anyone who might need it because in this community, we look out for each other.
Again, don’t mention. We gatchu.
All good things must come to an end. But not this good thing. We’ll be back next week.
In the
meantime, keep reading Zikoko’s articles and be sure to share the love.
Till next week…
Yours cashly,
Toheeb,
Zikoko’s “OG” Mr. Money
