There’s so much new music being released that it’s hard for even the most loyal fans to wade through the trash to find the gems. That’s why we’ve created #BumpThis – a Friday series that features new songs, by and featuring Nigerians, that you absolutely need to hear.
We know it’s going to be a good weekend when we get singles off two of the most anticipated albums of the year. Less than a month after selling out Madison Square Garden and announcing his new album, Burna Boy gets super deep with Last Last. And as if dropping back to back collabs hasn’t been enough for Davido, he teams up with The Sample to unleash the holy ghost on Stand Strong.
But if you think these are the only songs you need to listen to, then you’re on a long thing. Check out our complete list (and playlist) for your official weekend soundtrack.
Stand Strong — Davido and The Samples
There’s something about adding a choir to a song that makes what would’ve been a hit slap even harder. From Kanye West to Pheelz, this formula has worked repeatedly. And this time, Davido has caught the bug with his latest song, Stand Strong. An impressive lead single off his upcoming album, we find Davido trying his hands at something new and eating it up.
Featuring the same choir Kanye uses for his Sunday Service, Stand Strong has the makings of a classic anthem. Imagine what it’d sound like with thousands of fans singing it live with him after waiting eight hours for the concert to start. Whoosh!
PALAZZO — DJ Spinall
It’s Asake’s world, and the rest of us are just paying rent and agency fees. These days, the moment you hear “Ololade mi Asake”, you know you’re about to bump a hit. The proof is in the working. Hopping on the DJ Spinall train, Asake taps into his playboy side with PALAZZO, reminding us that his level has changed and the girls are now everywhere. Honestly, we can’t even be mad. This is what you get when you keep dropping steady bangers. Get it, bro!
Last Last — Burna Boy
Omo, even African Giant dey chop breakfast o!
Coming off an impressive and bar-raising headlining show at Madison Square Garden, Burna Boy has dropped the second single off his upcoming album, Love, Damini

Loving You — Zinolesky
What do you get when you have hitmaker Zinolesky sampling an Asa classic? The addictive, Loving You. This is the collaboration we didn’t know we needed, and now, we just can’t get enough. If you ever questioned the Zinolesky effect, bump this song and let’s see how you feel after.
Overdose — Mavins All-Stars 2022
Joke about it all you want because of its funny lyrics, but Mavins dropping Dorobucci in 2014 was definitely a culture defining moment. While Overdose attempts to either recapture or create the moment by throwing in a new crop of Mavin stars like Ladipoe, Ayra Starr, Rema, Crayon, Magixx and Boy Spice, something about this song just doesn’t hit like it’s supposed to. That being said, it’s still a cute bop, and you should totally jam it for the culture.
Some Nights I Dream of Doors — Obongjayar
After teasing us with the banging singles, Try and Tinko Tinko (Don’t Play Me for a Fool), Obongjayar has dropped his new album, Some Nights I Dream of Doors, and it was totally worth the wait. His voice, essence, and everything else? 10/10.We’re happy to be eating good this weekend. Fix up if you haven’t started bumping to this album already.
