There’s so much new music being released that it’s hard for even the most loyal fans to wade through the trash to find the gems. That’s why we’ve created #BumpThis – a Friday series that features new songs, by and featuring Nigerians, that you absolutely need to hear.

Blaqbonez — “Jesus Is Black (Letter To Kanye)”

Even if Blaqbonez wasn’t already a phenomenal rapper, his jokester persona would still make him an absolute delight to listen to. Thankfully, his latest release, “Jesus Is Black (Letter To Kanye)”, affords him the chance to give us the best of both.

On the first half of the track, Blaqbonez, who many have accused of being a tad overconfident, sends out a ballsy message to Kanye West: ‘move the release date of your upcoming album, Jesus Is King, or risk it getting overshadowed by my EP, Mr Boombastic‘.

After he’s done appealing to/threatening Kanye, he uses the remainder of the track to completely obliterate Davolee, one of the many rappers who’ve dedicated a diss track to him. It ends up being yet another successful flex from one of Nigerian rap’s most exciting new figures.
