There’s so much new music being released that it’s hard for even the most loyal fans to wade through the trash to find the gems. That’s why we’ve created #BumpThis – a Friday series that features new songs, by and featuring Nigerians, that you absolutely need to hear.

Tekno — “Skeletun”

For the past year, Tekno has been very hit-or-miss with his releases, even managing to squander a Zlatan feature on the forgettable “Agege”. Thankfully, that isn’t the case with his newest single, “Skeletun”, which finds the afropop star better than he has been in a really long time

Exceptionally produced by Phantom, “Skeletun” isn’t exactly lyrically coherent — the track’s subject matter seems to change from verse to verse — but that doesn’t really matter when Tekno rides the beat with such ease, resulting in what is almost sure to be his next monster hit.

Rema — “Rewind”

Last week, Rema dropped his third body of work, Bad Commando, and it’s already clear that “Lady”, the project’s most afropop-leaning song, is primed to be his next big hit. However, it seems the EP’s most sonically interesting song, “Rewind” isn’t getting the love it deserves.

With the lowest number views on his YouTube page — trailing behind “Bad Commando”, “Lady” and “Spaceship Jocelyn” respectively — it seems people haven’t yet discovered the politically conscious, whine-ready gem the Mavin Records star just unleashed. Hopefully, that changes soon.
